Palworld Backups

Palworld, as with most early access games, has an issue with frequent save corruption, which increases the need for frequent backups.

WinterNode backups

WinterNode GCP content

In addition to our automatic backups, which can be requested via a Discord Ticket and are often taken when the server is running, we have set up our panel to take a backup every time the server restarts.
These backups are stored in the WinterNode/PalSaveBackup folder and contain everything that's inside of the Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0 folder. These backups should be more stable than the ones we take every 12 hours as they're taken while the server is offline.

The server will delete backups that are older than 24 hours, but can create as many backups as there are restarts within that time frame. You can use the Schedule Manager to schedule repeating restarts, ensuring that your server takes backups.

External/Manual backups

If you're not using the WinterNode GCP, or would otherwise like to make or keep your own backups, we have a few tips on backing up your Palworld server. We have an article on a generalized Game Server Backup Script that contains a section with Tips for configuring it for Palworld.
